"Reaching the Lost with the power of the Gospel."

Our Pastor

Pastor Ted Patterson and Martina Patterson were married in 1986, and have four children; Voski (20), Michala (18), Jonathan (16), and Deondra (14).
Pastor Patterson was saved one Sunday night in November 1986 at about 10:45 p.m. after watching the “Old Time Gospel Hour”. Shortly, thereafter, he received a video tape of Dr. BR Lakin, where he was encouraged to get baptized, study, and get into a good church (He was attending a Missionary Baptist church at that time).
He joined White Rock Baptist Church, an Independent Baptist Church, in West Memphis, Arkansas, in 1987. There, under the preaching of the Word of God, he surrendered to preach in April 1989. It was at that time God impressed upon his heart that He wanted him to pastor in the Central Arkansas area.
In October 1989, God allowed Pastor and Mrs. Patterson to travel to hear Pastor Louis Baldwin preach a landmark message entitled, “The Spiritual State of Black America.” God gripped his heart about submitting to the authority of Crossroads Baptist Church to be trained for what God had called him to do. Three months after that meeting, Pastor moved to Virginia and began his preparation for the church planting ministry.
Pastor was ordained in May 1994 by the Crossroads Baptist Church and commissioned to establish the Jacksonville Baptist Temple in July 1994 as a missionary pastor.  JBT was  organized as a church in July 1997 with 41 baptized members. JBT have seen many more added to the church through baptism, as well as having seen eight men surrendered to preach.
JBT has given over $550,000.00 toward World Missions, since 1994.  JBT has started three mission churches with the men from our church (In 2003, New Testament Baptist Church in Hot Springs, in February 2007, New Testament Baptist Church in Newport, Arkansas and September 2010, Lighthouse Baptist Church in Huntsville, AL).
JBT currently have only one missionary serving on the foreign field, Linda Green, in Uganda Africa - 2004. JBT has also started an academy and childcare (Temple Baptist Academy) that meets the needs of children six weeks through twelfth grade.
Pastor Patterson believes that God has given him a unique ministry among Black American within the Biblical mandate to reach the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ; therefore, our culture cannot be what’s convenient, but it must be our challenge!
