About JBT

Jacksonville Baptist Temple
On Sunday,  July 17, 1994 , the first service of the Jacksonville Baptist Temple was held at 236 Pearl Street, Jacksonville, Arkansas. There were 64 people in attendance. Pastor Ted Patterson and family were commissioned by the Crossroads Baptist Church in Virginia to start this new work.
The church met in that location for almost six years. By 2000, the Sunday school and weekly worship attendance had increased leading to the decision to purchased five acres of land at 520 Marshall Road. This site was fully developed to include an 8,400 Square-foot building with a beautiful 200-seat auditorium (after remodeling). The church occupied this facility in June of 2000 and added three additional staff members that year .
In August of 1999, the Jacksonville Baptist Temple Daycare (JBTDC) was launched as a full-service Christian childcare center, with a capacity enrollment for 74 children. Later, in August of 2000, Temple Baptist Academy and Preschool were founded as vehicles to provide a solid Christian education.
Over the years, the church has become a lighthouse in the city of Jacksonville, the state of Arkansas and around the world. Jacksonville, Arkansas is home to Little Rock Air Force Base. The base is home to over 25,000 Active Duty, Guard, Reserve, retired military personnel and their dependants. Jacksonville Baptist Temples’ proximity to the base continues to provide many opportunities for the church growth through its outreach ministries.
Distinguished for their heartbeat and zeal to fulfill the New Testament mandate of proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ all over the world, the 150 member congregation grew to give over $80,000 annually to missions, and grew to support nearly 50 missionaries and projects around the globe.
In September of 2003, the church commissioned the start of the New Testament Baptist Church of Hot Springs, Arkansas. New Testament Baptist Church, the first of two churches started by Jacksonville Baptist Temple, blossomed, in an often described, very "dark" city. In just four years, the church has welcomed over 300 first time visitors.  In December 2004, the church purchased their current facility, worth over $185,000.
On February 4, 2007, Jacksonville Baptist Temple commissioned the start of the New Testament Baptist Church (presently named Lighthouse BC) of Newport, Arkansas. The church has thrived in its first year, welcoming over seventy first time visitors and has purchased five acres of land for $50,000. The purchase also includes a three bedroom brick home with two additional buildings. In January of 2008, construction began on a 3,700 square feet facility to house the ministry.
Jacksonville Baptist Temple is excited about its past and even more excited about its future. Future plans include the addition of ministry and education staff, the construction of a new education wing and a gymnasium.
